Traditional Method
|
The ZipA Traditional Method of Use most replicates the process of foiling with traditional foils. This method may be preferred by expert foilists because it closely simulates what they are accustomed to. You must remember that the ZipA foil works in a different manner than a traditional foil so just because we align our techniques, very little is actually the same.
The Traditional Method of using the ZipA foil is the fastest foiling method when speed is your main concern. This especially comes in to play when large volumes of long hair need to be foiled.
| Step 1 Create a part and section off the hair with a GripA hair grip or hair clip. It is important to maintain a uniform open part line. Using a pin-tail comb, select a thin even amount of hair along the bottom edge of the part in sections of weaves or slices. Select no more than 1/8 of an inch of hair. You may use the zig-zag edge of the ZipA foil as a gauge. Select no more hair than what the valley of the zig-zag edge will accept. If the hair extends beyond the outer tip of the zig-zag edge, you have selected to much. |
| Step 2 Hold the selected hair strands up against the head, this will create a bottom part. 1/4 of an inch above the bottom part is where you attach the zig-zag edge of the ZipA foil. This is shown by the red arrow.
Remember, the foil side is down and the paper side is up. |
| Step 3 Using you fingers, press across the top of the zig-zag edge. This action will hook the ZipA foil attachment hooks onto the selected hairs chosen to be colored. |
| Step 4 Using a pin-tail comb, lightly press on the zig-zag edge. |
| Step 5 Using a looping movement, gently move the hair down onto the paper surface channeling the hair into the zig-zag edge. Never pull or tug. You may adjust the ZipA foil be either grasping the sides with your fingers, or inserting a pin-tail comb under the push flap to slide the ZipA foil forward close to the scalp. |
| Step 6 Using a small brush, apply the color or bleach to the paper surface of the ZipA foil. Start one inch from the edge and work up to the channels of the zig-zag edge. Apply your solution without over saturating. |
| Step 7 Fold the ZipA foil in half and process. There is no need to fold the sides of the foil. The best processing results are achieved with a steam processor. If a dry-air hairdryer is used, make sure the foil edges are sealed so that the solution does not dry out. |
